Toronto Restaurant Review: Kami Sushi

by Allergy Guy

Kami Sushi on Roncensvalles in Toronto is a great place for sushi, with mostly gluten-free options and a caring staff.

Kami Sushi is one of my favorite places for sushi in Toronto.  The quality of the fish is excellent, and they somehow manage to wrap the rolls in a thin layer of rice about two grains thick.  They are obviously very skilled.

They also have gluten-free soy sauce for people with gluten allergy or celiac, which is great. The wasabi they use is gluten-free.  This is not true of all sushi restaurants so always be sure to check.  If you are with people who are OK with wheat, they have home-made soy sauce which I am told is excellent!

I frequently order one of their combo platters.  Most come with California roll, which is made with artificial crab.  Artificial crab is often made with wheat flour, so I avoid it.  They will substitute for another roll, but may charge extra, depending on what you order.

Kami Sushi is a great choice for gluten free food in the High Park area of Toronto.
