Gluten-free shopping tip: always read ingredients. There’s more too this than you might think, especially when you’re starting out. It also depends on your sensitivity to gluten.
This is a most important tip. It is more than a tip; it is a rule. You’ll see what I mean as you read this article.
If you have celiac disease, you must avoid all gluten. Even if you don’t feel symptoms, there can be long-term health problems from consuming even small amounts of gluten.
If you have a gluten allergy or have some other gluten intolerance, you can go more by how you feel. Still, gluten can sneak into your diet when you’re not looking.
Either way, you cannot afford to make assumptions!

Gluten Free Garage was a real success as far as I was concerned as a visitor and gluten allergy researcher.
This one took place at 11 November 2012.
There were lots of vendors and lots of people. I was there for about three hours and it just kept getting busier. I noticed that venders were selling out. I managed to talk to many of them. It was a great opportunity to find out about new products, small gluten-free bakeries and gluten free restaurants.

Nari Sushi in Toronto is gluten-hostile. Do not eat here if you have a gluten allergy or celiac disease!
I ate here once and was gluten-poisoned. I did not realize that many of their choices have tempura bits (deep fried wheat) as a filling. When I realized this might be the case, I spat it out. They were very concerned and offered to refund my credit card. Certainly they are nice and honorable people.
Even if you aren’t gluten intolerant, I wouldn’t consider this place to serve the best sushi, although according to online reviews, some people like it.
If you have a gluten allergy, avoid this place fore sure!

The Sushi Bar aka “Dr. Sushi” is one of my favorite sushi restaurants in Toronto. The savvy staff can provide you with many gluten-free options, including gluten-free soy sauce.
The quality of the sushi here is excellent, as is the presentation. It has a real community feel to it.The waitress remembers us each time we come (we’ve only been three times over several months), and knows to serve me gluten-free food. They now have gluten-free tamari (similar to soy sauce) so I don’t have to bring my own.
