In step 2, you melt the butter, but it hasn’t been added to anything yet.
In step 3, you add the dry ingredients.
In step 4 you mix, you don’t add any butter.
This crust does not work as a top crust, but you could try it as a crumble.
]]>Definitely add the apples uncooked! They will cook nicely in the oven. Other fillings can be cooked on the stove top if they are very watery. I add tapioca balls (small ones) to thicken fillings like preserved cherries which have a lot of juice in them. I’ve not make a fresh cherry pie (I can’t imagine removing all the stones) so I don’t know if they would work added raw to the pie crust.
]]>I made the pie crust tonight, and it turned out great until I added the filling. That just turned it to mush. What filling did you use? I cooked up some apples that were a bit watery. Should I have added the apples uncooked?
