Back after being away

For those of you who left comments about alleriges on this website, and didn't see them show up, you'll be glad to know that I've sorted through them (most of them anyhow) and you should see yours now.

I was out of town for a while and so I slipped behind with comment maintenance!

I'll write up an article about my experience at the hotel when I get some time, it was interesting to see how they managed my gluten-free needs.

Mango Allergy

Mango allergy problems are caused by a reaction to Urushiol. This substance is found in the sap of mangos. It causes a severe rash, just the same as poison ivy.

This is because poison ivy also contains urushiol.

Mango allergies are often noticed soon after eating a mango. Typical mango allergy symptoms are blisters around the mouth and severe itching. This usually takes several hours to develop, so you many not realize that your symptoms are caused by a mango allergy.

Allergy Newsletter has New Format

The Allergy Details newsletter now has a new format.

Up until now, the newsletter has been going out as a pdf attached to an email.

The content is now on this website, in a special section.

When you sign up for the allergy newsletter, you get a list of articles, a short description of each, and a link to the full article.

Sign up for the newsletter to get an announcement by email as each newsletter becomes available.

Allergy Support: Dietary Supplements Section Added

An essential part of staying healthy is to consume enough micronutrients, including vitamins and minerals. This is especially true if you have an allergy. It may even be possible that allergies are brought on by deficiencies in some micronutrients.

Allergy Details now has a new section on dietary supplements, especially those relevant to allergies.

Wheat-free Foods You Can Eat Section Updated

I just received a very helpful but embarrassing comment. It turns out that the article about wheat-free foods you can eat didn't, well it it didn't say much of anything really. It wasn't helpful.

I have just updated it. There is a list of ingredients you can cook with and links to the recipe section.

My apologies to previous visitors who found the article frustrating!

Book Section Reorganized and Improved

Health book

Burgundian scribe. Let's hope he's not suffering from a mold allergy!

I have noticed that the book section of this website is quite popular, so I thought it was well worth reorganizing to make it easier to browse the books.

So far, the book section includes books in the following categories:

Books are now divided in to categories, and a list of titles appears at the top of each category so that it is easier to navigate.

Feel free to leave a comment if you have any further suggestions on how to improve the organization of the book section. And definitely leave comments in the book section itself if you would like to discuss individual books, or would like to suggest books to add to the book section.

Happy Reading!
