My Journey to Finding Gluten-Free Heaven

By: Marina

One lazy Sunday morning, despite a restless night of sneezing and fever, I decided to find a gluten free bakery called Baby Cakes whose owner I met at a health food store a few days before, so I ventured down the streets of China Town, past Little Italy, not knowing exactly where the place was located and after a long refreshing walk down Broome St., I finally saw a sign.

Camping, Tents and Mold Allergy

One of the many reasons for going camping is for fresh air. But did you know that your tent can have a mold problem?

It is worth checking the air quality of your tent, especially if you have a mold allergy.

How to Detect a Mold Problem

The first question to ask your self is "does this apply to me?" Allergy or no allergy, mold can cause health problems. It also causes odors.

Non-Meat Meat

My favourite non-meat meat is a style of Chinese cooking developed by Buddhists. They are true non-violent Buddhists who follow their beliefs closely, which precludes eating meat, since to eat meat means to harm an animal.

The thing is though, that the Chinese love their meat, so what to do?

They have developed this fantastic vegetarian cooking style that is so good, that most carnivore will not feel deprived of their meat if they eat these dishes!

Food Allergies at the Hotel - a Kitchen in a Suitcase

Kitchen-in-a-suitcaseOn my last trip to a hotel, I was very unimpressed with the hotel food. Add to that the rough past few weeks (still not done with), and believe me, I do not want to go through this again!

The solution: a kitchen in a suitcase. It's a bit of a challenge. Firstly, I hate to plan ahead this way. I should be getting things together now, but I'd rather write about it. It has to go on an airplane (let's hope they don't loose this suitcase - I can do without my cloths, but not my food!), so I have to consider space and weight. And silly international regulations.

Some Information on Travelling with Allergies

Here is a forum thread about travelling that talks about world travel with a gluten intolerance.
